Amour, gloire et beauté (The Bold and the Beautiful) is a new exhibition from MADMusée's permanent collection, which includes works by two artists from APA, Valerio Ciccone and Wayne Marnell. In his works at the MADMusée collection, Valerio used pastels to represent celebrities that he met leafing through the pages of books and people magazines.
This exhibition explores the universe of fashion, stars, spangles, celebrities, glamour and love as viewed by many international artists: Estelle Albertini (Belgium), Inès Andouche (Belgium), Luigi Boldori (Italy), Martha Branten (Netherlands), Samuel Cariaux (Belgium), Charles Chapuis (France), Valerio Ciccone (Australia), Maxime Cottone (Belgium), Wouter Coumou (Netherlands), Nicole Daiwaille (Belgium), Paulus de Groot (Netherlands), Alain Delaunay (Belgium), Hugues Joly (Belgium), Philippe Langen (Belgium), Wayne Marnell (Australia), Benoît Monjoie (Belgium), Alain Mottet (Belgium), Jean-Jacques Oost (Begium), Marco Raugei (Italy), Anny Servais (Belgium), Nathalie Van Der Kaa (Belgium), Felicienne Van Hoove (Belgium), and Pascale Vincke (Belgium).
MADMusée is a museum that emanated from the Créahm Association, located at Liège in the Walloon region of Belgium ('Créahm' is a French acronym meaning 'creativity and intellectual disability') Established in October 1998, MADMusée's mission is the conservation, promotion, advocacy, study and research of the works of artists who generally participate in studio programs for people with intellectual disabilities, operating in a similar capacity to those of Créahm.
The permanent collection harbours a unique heritage in this genre. Today it has close to a thousand works comprising of paintings, sculptures, drawings, and engravings, originating from artists around the world, including Belgium, Germany, Italy, the United States, Japan, the Netherlands, France and Australia. Through systematic prospecting and research work, the collection offers a just reflection of the works created by artists with intellectual disabilities.
APA is very proud to have been associated with Créahm since 1983. This has resulted in various staff and exhibition exchanges through out the course of our long history together as two leading providers in arts and disability services.
