Landscape

30 January 2006 - 4 March 2006

Venue: Arts Project Australia
Opening: 29 January 2006

John Bates has been attending the studio program at APA for over 15 years. Flat planes and brilliant colour characterises John's work. His strikingly delineated compositions are often based on landscapes, pared back to the barest of essentials, and evoking a silent stillness. John has painted for many years, and has participated in numerous shows in addition to those listed below.

This year John's works have also been exhibited in two APA group exhibitions, the Lapped exhibition at the Campbelltown Arts Centre in NSW, and internationally at the Dunedin Public Gallery, New Zealand as part of the Home Sweet Home: Works from the Peter Fay Collection - a travelling exhibition of the National Gallery of Australia in partnership with the University of Wollongong.
