A Lucid Moment

19 April 2007 - 26 May 2007

Venue: Arts Project Australia
Opening: 18 April 2007

A Lucid Moment is a group exhibition of APA artists curated by Monica Syrette. The exhibiting artists have been selected by their approach to subject matter which is heartfelt, from tender to mischievous, and displays a distinct lack of preciousness. Their image making process has a directness which creates work that is both delicate and assured.

The works are personal and intimate, from spidery ink drawings of ballerinas that thread across pages to colourwashes of tropical birds. The images used as source material connect each artist to specific memories giving the work a distinct energy. Although the work may have an elusive quality they are never tentative or fragile.

Artist(s): Brigid Hanrahan, Alanna Dodd, Kaye McDonald, Dorothy Berry, Dawn Edward, Barbara Veheary and Robyn Kirkpatrick.
