Out There

24 April 2008 - 31 May 2008

Venue: Arts Project Australia
Opening: 23 April 2008

A myriad of domestic, industrial, roaring scenes next to personable portraits with no strings attached. Real, effervescent, blurry, and a little bit out there.

Out There is a works on paper specific exhibition featuring six artists from the studio masquerading as themselves.

The artistic path of the six spans a few years. From the now and working backwards to the late 90s with selected works unseen and hidden in dust covered folios … a great discovery and an even greater cause for celebration!

Dionne Canzano accentuates her ongoing love of the textured and torturing felines with blood thirsting angst alongside an Elvis portrait and a furry jumper clad Woman holding Flowers.

Wayne Marnell visually scribes James the Artsworker in a saturated purple and green hue with veritable side burns in a small work bursting at the seams.

Catherine Staughton uses texta and gouache to give her characters a garish luminosity and bizarre appeal.

Jodie Noble's self portrait series seem to distil to the essence one particular resonating mood per weekday.

Steven Perrette goes busy busy with the industrial, commercial and repetitiveness of an ongoing landscape of culinary and vehicular advertising.

Fiona Longhurst's Chicken presents evocativeness with kookiness at its highest with her chosen medium and light dabble of text.

Out There is a show of works imbued with meaning, context, thought and personality of the self and the depicted subject.
