Skyscape

9 March 2006 - 8 April 2006

Venue: Arts Project Australia
Opening: 8 March 2006

Whenever we look up, its there; simple, constant, eternal - the sky covers us all. How we feel about it and how it is portrayed is explored through Arts Project Australia's upcoming exhibition Skyscape.

Landscape remains a favoured means whereby artists connect with the nature's dynamic and powerfully shifting moods. Trees, soil, rocks, streams and pathways etched through the environment represent tangible elements that artists can confidently reconstruct. However what lies above the horizon is often more elusive but potentially more expressive.

Turner, Monet and Van Gough looked to the elusive might of the sky to infuse their landscapes with incredible potency. The exploration continues.

Skyscape presents works on paper by 10 Arts Project Australia artists.

Clouds baring gravitational force dominate Anne Lynch's atmospheric worlds, whereas Alan Constable's images often explode with the force of light.

Paul Hodges confidently composed scenes are structured with an apparently seamless integration of sky and land.
