As expected, Saturday’s opening of Cathy Staughton‘s amazing retrospective Wondrous Imaginarium was a very colourful and festive affair. Arts Project’s gallery has been transformed into a wonderland of carnival sights and sounds from Cathy’s hugely successful and extensive artistic career.
We would like to thank Catherine Bell, Senior Lecturer in Visual Arts, School of Arts and Sciences, Australian Catholic University, for her stirring opening speech. The two Catherine’s have been working collaboratively for several years and have developed a very strong bond and symmetry with one another.
We would also like to thank Leonard Joel for their assistance in producing the exhibition’s accompanying publication chronicling Cathy’s works. It includes essays from the exhibition’s Curators, Cheryl Daye and James McDonald as well as an essay by Catherine Bell.
Here are some shots capturing the festivities and guests attending Saturday’s opening.
