Dorothy Berry

Dorothy Berry (b 1942) is an established artist who approaches her practice with great passion. Her paintings and drawings have energy that evokes an emotional response. Her keen interest in animals is employed symbolically—she has developed a complex set of signs to construct personal narratives and significance. Berry has worked in the Arts Project Australia since 1985 and has presented four solo exhibitions at Arts Project Australia including her retrospective ‘Dorothy Berry – Bird on a Wire’ in 2009. She has been featured in numerous group exhibitions nationally and internationally. Her work is held in the MADmusée, Lèige; National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; and National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne as well as private collections worldwide.
