Fiona Taylor

Fiona Taylor works across a variety of mediums including painting, printmaking and ceramics. Inspired by urban and natural landscapes, Taylor often works from images taken on specific journeys that resonate with her on a personal level. Inspiration is also drawn from classic books such as Alice in Wonderland, resulting in the creation of quirky ceramic rabbits and surreal cats, or figures from popular culture in portraits from Kim Jong-il to Kylie Minogue. Series of works can also reflect upon particular emotional states using symbolic imagery, as demonstrated in the body of work Taylor refers to as ‘freedom birds’. Taylor has worked in the Arts Project Australia studio since 2009. She has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions including Click, Brunswick Street Gallery, Fitzroy; ‘Turning the Page’, Gallery 101, Ontario, Canada; and My Puppet, My Secret Self, Substation, Newport. She has been included in multiple exhibitions at Arts Project Australia.
