Utilising strong drawing skills and working predominantly with inks and watercolour, Nhan Nguyen builds increasingly complex narrative layers from simple imagery. His sources of inspiration range from landscapes and animals to urban environments. His practice demonstrates an uncanny ability to extract the nuances and idiosyncrasies of his subject matter, distilling the poetic from the everyday. Nguyen has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2008. He has been included in numerous group exhibitions including, Melbourne Art Fair, Linden Postcard Show, New Art and was a finalist in SMALLWORKS Art Prize at Brunswick Street Gallery in 2014. His work is held in private collections.
