Opening performance at Arts Project Australia’s Material World, featuring body suits created by APA studio artist Bronwyn Hack, on Saturday 10 July 2021.
Hack (b 1979) is known for her multi-faceted practice which spans sculpture, painting, printmaking and ceramics, with a keen interest in body and bones. Hack has worked at Arts Project since 2011. Material World runs until Sunday 22 August 2021 at Arts Project Australia gallery located at Collingwood Yards. Hack exhibits alongside Mark Smith, Adrian Lazzaro, Rosie O’Brien, Chris O’Brien, Fulli Andrinopoulos, Anne Lynch, Dorothy Berry, Matthew Gove and Terry Williams.
The tactile multi-dimensionality of Material World references personal worlds created in response to physical surroundings. The artistic practices and works displayed testify to the movement between – and stark transition from – idea and concept to visceral threads and textiles to represent corporal curiosity, sexual politics, the home, possessions, consumerism, and the imaginary world.
