Elements of Hannah Watts | Christian Hansen

Christian Hansen has undertaken time as Melton Arts & Culture’s Artist in Residence. He presents an exhibition ‘Elements of Hannah Watts‘, of the resulting works focusing on Melton’s beloved historical icon Hannah ‘Grannie’ Watts.

Christian’s residency focused on researching the life and impact of Hannah Watts on the Melton area, alongside explorations of a more contemporary site named after her, Hannah Watts Park. The result is body of mixed media works that blur the boundaries between the present and past. Through Elements of Hannah Watts, Hansen pays homage to Melton’s local history and its celebrated figures while questioning how we remember, the notion of remembrance and how we create and are influenced by our historical narratives.

The exhibition opens 19 July and will run until 1 November 2022 at Melton Library and Learning Hub, 31 McKenzie Street, Melton, Victoria.
