Home, belonging, sanctuary and the familiar. Opening Saturday 18 March Home & the fabric of the familiar explores the ways in which home is a very personal response. Based on a sense of safety, comfort and belonging, it ultimately feeds our universal desire for sanctuary. Curated by Penelope Hunt, this exhibition presents home as not only as a subjective response, but as a sense of place, of interwoven fabric, that has material resonance and importance in our lives. Sanctuary emerges as a material reality alongside our own memories and affective responses, culminating as desires which are articulated both individually and collectively.
Set to be opened by Lucy Feagins, Founder and Editor of The Design Files, Home & the fabric of the familiar is an exhibition by Arts Project Australia artists which explores a complex weave of memory, yearning and emotional responses. The exhibition includes works by Dionne Canzano, Peter Cave, Valerio Ciccone, Boris Cipusev, Alan Constable, Brigid Hanrahan, Fiona Longhurst, Anne Lynch, Amani Tia, Chris O’Brien, Rosie O’Brien, Daniel Pace, Simon Paredes, Lisa Reid and Terry Williams.
Home & the fabric of the familiar continues until 22 April 2017 and coincides with a solo exhibition by Laura Sheehan.
