THE NORTHCOTE PENGUINS VISIT MORE LOVE HOURS

Today the Northcote Penguins visited the Ian Potter Museum of Art to see the exhibition – More love hours: Contemporary artists and craft“. More love hours brings together selected works by thirteen contemporary Australian artists who use craft media, techniques or processes in their practice. While the works reflect significant stylistic and thematic diversity, the exhibition demonstrates how artists use ‘traditional’ forms of creativity—ceramics, embroidery, weaving, paper-craft—to express contemporary values and complex ideologies.

As many of the Northcote Penguins attend the 3D and ceramics programs at Arts Project, the many interesting and diverse crafts displayed were very much food for thought, as well as some intriguing wall text that referred to the differences between the fields of “Art-making” and “Craft-making”, which led to further discussion among the artists.
