Bobby Kyriakopoulos

Bobby Kyriakopoulos’ practice focuses primarily on painting and drawing, with a meticulous and deliberate application of watercolour and gouache. Depicting nostalgic feeling scenes of film stills, street corners or tender, quirky portraits, the highly gestural work seems to catch the subject matter in movement at an exact moment. The interplay of positive and negative space in Kyriakopoulas’ work is effortless; balanced yet comfortably unbalanced, drawing the eye naturally toward an often intriguing narrative. Bobby Kyriakopoulos has worked at Arts Project Australia studio since 2011. He has been included in numerous group exhibitions including ‘Spring 1883’, The Establishment, Sydney; ‘Well Red’, Robin Gibson Gallery, Sydney; ‘Melbourne Now’, NGV International, Melbourne; and ‘Small Works 2014 Art Prize’, Brunswick Street Gallery, Fitzroy. His work is held in the National Gallery of Victoria collection.
