‘Secret Garden’ and ‘Clay: it’s a matter of substance’ now open!

A big thanks to everyone that made it to the launch of the two new shows that opened at Arts Project  this weekend.

In the front gallery, Georgia Szmerling’s solo show Secret Garden opened to a great reception. Secret Garden includes works in acrylic paint, felt-tip pens and ceramics, that affirm Szmerling’s dominant interest in the portrayal of decorative plant formations and the natural world.

In the back gallery, audience members were greeted with a sea of plinths installed to display the many ceramics in Clay: it’s a matter of substance, curated by Staff Artist Rosie Vallis. This ceramics exhibition examines the ancient human activity of making a solid object from clay. All the works in this exhibition have been created through the artists’ fascination with the intrinsic qualities of this earthy material to create forms of meaning.

Both exhibitions are on at Arts Project Australia until July 23.
