Matthew Gove is an emerging artist working across a variety of mediums. His ceramic works reveal an appetite for dark, yet humorous, subject matter and are striking in scale and glaze technique. The works embody a sense of historical and mythical fantasy and are imbued with playful narratives, from faithfully recreating historical weaponry and objects to exploring mythical or legendary characters and creatures. Gove (born 1977) has worked in the Arts Project studio since 2012. He has been included in several group exhibitions in Melbourne and Sydney, including World In My Eyes, C3 Gallery, Abbotsford, Melbourne (2013), Patrick Francis and Friends, Robin Gibson Gallery, Sydney (2015) and won the Darebin Art Prize (2013). His work is represented in private collections throughout Australia.
