Jakob Demirel

A coloured pencil drawing of an old building in the city of Melbourne

Working with pencil on paper, Jakob Demirel creates drawings of urban landscapes.

Jakobs’ interest in architecture can be seen in the meticulous details of his artworks. From his ability to exact repeating skyscraper windows to perfecting a gothic geometric pattern, Jakob’s artworks are filled with patience and observation. His use of coloured pencils adds movement to the artworks, providing texture, enhancing angles and warping viewpoints through the direction of his mark making. Jakob’s most recent series focuses on local architecture, giving a new perspective to familiar and iconic buildings in Melbourne.
