Alan Constable is a painter and a ceramicist. He has exhibited in galleries in Australia and overseas and has been a finalist in a number of prominent art awards. Constable, who is is renowned for his ceramic cameras, still maintains a strong 2D practice, focusing on imagery from newspapers and magazines as his points of reference. Alan Constable (born 1956) worked in the Arts Project Australia studio since 1991 and had his first solo exhibition at Arts Project Australia in 2011. He has also had solo shows at Andrew Baker Art Dealer (Brisbane), Darren Knight Gallery (Sydney), South Willard (Los Angeles), and Stills Gallery (Sydney). He has been included in numerous group shows and awards including the Victorian Craft Award (Melbourne), National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne) and at MADMusée (Belgium). He is included in major collections including the National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne) and The Museum of Everything (London).
