Sam Forster is an emerging artist whose practice spans drawing and ceramics. Forster creates intricate pictograms using repetitive patterns of dots and text to form a personal visual language inspired by popular television shows such as My Kitchen Rules and Home and Away, alongside everyday subjects including houses, cars and flowers. Working primarily with dry pastel on black paper, his coloured dots and symbols glow like lights in the darkness. His ceramic works extend this tactile and intuitive approach through layered glazes, irregular forms and richly textured surfaces.
Forster has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2017, and his work is held in private collections across Australia.
