Simon Madaffari creates drawings that reference gaming and popular culture. Working with brightly coloured markers, pencils and oil pastels he creates scenes from nostalgic video games including Zelda, Mario and Pacman. Madaffari also references non-digital game items in his work including dice, dominos and pinball machines. His fluro geometric compositions simulate vintage gaming graphics and his deliberate patterns reflect on the rules, systems and strategy of game design. Simon’s confident style revives memories of familiar worlds and the joy of play.
