WAH-WAH x APA x Cong Josie
Announcing APA’s latest fashion collaboration
What do you get when you cross APA’s Adrian Lazzaro with Australia’s beloved independent knitwear label WAH-WAH, and Naarm/Melbourne based music icon, Cong Josie? The ultimate knitwear triumvirate, that’s what!
Today, APA are thrilled to share the launch of this exciting collaboration, bringing original work by Adrian Lazzaro to life on a 100% merino wool jumper. Just in time for the icy winter season!
Many months ago, we began brainstorming and plotting with WAH-WAH designer Kaylene Milner on how APA and WAH-WAH could collaborate (we are big fans!). Known for creating beautiful knitwear with bold designs that celebrate the work of local and international visual artists and bands, WAH-WAH felt like the perfect fit for a creative collaboration.
After sharing how fun a studio portrait sitting can be, Kaylene reached out to Cong Josie to bring him along for the ride, knowing he’d have a great time.
Cong is the hedonistic alter ego (and anagram) of Nic Oogies, celebrated for his mix of throbbing synth-punk to tender doo-wop leanings. A true transgressive who subverts ideas of masculinity, vulnerability and performance.
Cong visited the studio for portrait sittings and drawing jams with Adrian, complete with pumping soundtracks and pun-packed sessions. Known for his energetic linework, bold colours and punk sensibility, Adrian perfectly captured Cong’s essence, and even blessed Cong with a new title ‘The Saxophone Killer’.
Thrown through the WAH-WAH lens, the jumper brings together and celebrates Adrian’s distinctive visual style and Cong’s theatrical flair for motifs, capturing their shared spirit.
Big thanks to WAH-WAH and Cong Josie for their generosity, humour, and playful energy throughout the collaboration. We’ve loved having you become part of the APA community!
