Anthony Romagnano works across the disciplines of pencil, paint and digital media. His process involves meticulously examining and interpreting an image before executing the work, beginning with the outline and then adding blocks of vivid colour. Each vibrant section is applied in opaque layers, with the works presenting much like a mosaic or stained glass window; harmonious in line and composition. The kaleidoscopic patterns are often a combination of various source material images, and include figures elegantly poised or animated and engaged, urban landscapes and art homages. Anthony Romagnano (born in 1985) has been a studio artist at Arts Project Australia since 2004, and had his first solo exhibition at Arts Project Australia in 2008. He has exhibited in numerous group shows in Australia including: ‘Small Universe’, No Vacancy Gallery, Melbourne; ‘Renegades: Outsider Art’, KickArts Contemporary Arts, Cairns; and ‘Melbourne Art Fair’, Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne.
