Steven Perrette’s artworks on paper frequently depict the frenetic workings of the western urban world. His detailed drawings present overcrowded country roads and highways that depict a cacophony of cars, semi-trailers, cafes, gas stations and signs sporting corporate logos. His artworks are devoid of nature; they highlight our propensity towards endless consumption and progress. Steven Perrette (born 1962) has been attending the Arts Project Australia studio since 2000, and had his first solo exhibition in the Arts Project Gallery in 2011. He has exhibited in numerous group shows including ‘Mission to Seafarers Victoria 2014 ANL Maritime Art Prize’, Mission to Seafarers, Melbourne; ‘Turning the Page’, Gallery 101, Ontario, Canada; and ‘Melbourne Art Fair’, Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne. His work is held in the National Gallery of Australia, and V-Line Collections.
