Sam Forster

Sam Forster is an emerging artist whose practice spans drawing and ceramics.

Working from the Arts Project Australia studio since 2017, Forster creates intricate pictograms using repetitive patterns of dots and text to form a personal visual language inspired by popular television shows such as My Kitchen Rules and Home and Away, alongside everyday subjects including houses, cars and flowers. Working primarily with dry pastel on black paper, his coloured dots and symbols glow like lights in the darkness. His ceramic works extend this tactile and intuitive approach through layered glazes, irregular forms and richly textured surfaces. Forster’s work is held in private collections across Australia.
