Michael Camakaris employs a variety of media including gouache, acrylic paint, compressed charcoal and chinagraph. Camakaris often employs all these media in one artwork, subtly creating a cohesive and integrated image. Camakaris' art practice draws its inspiration from such diverse subjects such as safari animals, the avian world, and human portraiture, which he imbues with drama, depth and intensity. Michael Camakaris (born 1976) has been attending the Arts Project Australia studio since 2010, and presented his first solo exhibition 'Five Bulls, No Bull' as part of the Shepparton Art Museum Drawing Wall Commission in 2013. He has been included in numerous group exhibitions including, ‘Nests’, Northcity4, Melbourne; ‘2014 Belle Arti Prize’, Chapman & Bailey Gallery, Melbourne; National Gallery of Victoria 150th Anniversary, NGV, Melbourne; and ‘Linden Postcard exhibition’, Linden Centre for Contemporary Art.
