Peter Ben is primarily a painter. He creates highly illustrative invented worlds, as well as paintings and collages of popular culture figures and bands he admires. His artworks are often either infused with his sharp humour, or, with his fanatical 'fan' induced homage to popular culture figures and groups. He also has a lasting interest in producing detailed animations and stop-motion films. Peter Ben (born 1972) has been a regular artist at Arts Project Australia since 1996 and presented his first solo exhibition in 2013. He has been included in numerous group exhibitions including 'Department of Veteran Affairs 2014 Story Writing and Art Competition', Heidelberg; 'World In My Eyes', C3 Gallery, Abbotsford, Melbourne; and 'Home Sweet Home: Works from the Peter Fay Collection', National Gallery of Australia Travelling exhibition and Dunedin Public Art Gallery, New Zealand. His film work includes ‘Aliens come from Space’ at 'Here and Away', Northern Exposure 09, Northcote Town Hall, Melbourne and 'Animagination', ACMI Cinema . His work is held in the National Gallery of Australia collection.
