Valerio Ciccone

With drawing as his primary mode of expression, Valerio Ciccone’s work reflects his interest and fascination with the world around him. Over many years, his work has undergone a series of changes: from his earliest watercolours and powerful text-based monochromatic pastel portraits, colourful scenes from the AFL to his enduring repertoire of animals, still life and pop culture icons. Ciccone continues to develop work that reveals his gentle insights. Ciccone (born 1970) has been at Arts Project Australia since 1985 and has undertaken three solo exhibitions: ‘Ball!’, Arts Project Australia, 1999; ‘Works by Valerio Ciccone’, Pinacotheca, Melbourne, 1996; ‘Works on Paper by Valerio Ciccone’, Pinacotheca, 1994. He has been included in numerous group exhibitions including, ‘Renegades: Outsider Art’, Moree Plains Gallery, Moree, NSW; ‘Classic Albums’, Tanks Art Centre, Cairns, QLD; ‘BloodLines: Art and the Horse’, Albury Regional Gallery and at Muswellbrook Regional Gallery. His works are held in the Australian Gallery of Sport Permanent Collection, the MADMusée and the National Gallery of Australia.
