Dorothy Berry

Dorothy Berry is a painter who approaches her practice with great passion.

This is evident in the energy and vibrancy her images exude. The work demonstrates a keen interest in animals, and often employs them in a symbolic sense. She has developed an intricate set of signs in order to construct personal narratives and her work often recounts an experience, event, belief or opinion relating to her life. Her densely packed compositions frequently consist of an accumulation of these incidents or symbols, instilling the works with personal significance. She has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions in Melbourne. Her art has also been displayed in major group exhibitions nationally and internationally, with work in the MADmusée in Belgium, National Gallery of Australia and National Gallery of Victoria as well as private collections worldwide.
